Documentary testimony, second-hand. The words of a patient, reported by Toni Maha Evangelopoulos during her appearances on Greek public television (EPT TV, April 2010). Translated from Greek.

“My first language was German, which lies in the low frequencies; English, by contrast, is much higher. My hearing was therefore blocked precisely in the frequencies of English. I read English out of professional obligation, but I could not follow a conversation: English was, for me, ‘a language without sound.’ After the programme, English has a sound: I can speak, I can follow. Professionally, I can now be where I was not — I am even preparing to give a talk in English at a conference.”
